Lonsinger Pharmacy has been a part of Utica Ohio’s heritage for many years. Here is an article from the Utica Harold giving us a little slice of history on how this pharmacy came to be.

Grand Opening of New Pharmacy

Grand opening of New Lonsinger Pharmacy, pictured above, located at 224 North Main St., is being observed today (Thursday), Friday, and Saturday.  Charles Lonsinger, owner is offering grand opening specials, free gifts for both adults, and children, free coke, and special prizes. Free Vanda orchids are being flown in from the Hawaiian Islands for the ladies.

Mr. Lonsinger purchased the Lynn Drug Store in Utica, Apr. 5th, 1953, and operated the business in that location until Dec.11th 1966, moving then to the new building.

Don Oxley of Granville was the General contractor for the modern new building constructed of concrete block faced with brown blend brick veneer. There are two entrances and a blacktopped parking lot for the convenience of the customers.

The store offers in addition to drugs and medicines a greater selection of many items, new departments, including magazines, gifts, and rental service of wheelchairs, walkers, etc.

Hallmark cards and party Decorations, free pick-up and delivery prescription service, a full line of cosmetics and Velvet’s packaged ice-cream are also offered at the new store.

Employees are James Armstrong, pharmacist; Miss Ramona Robinette, and Mrs. Eleaner Davis. Mr. Lonsinger’s son, Mark, works part-time.

Advertising in the Utica Herald has been one of the Lonsinger Pharmacy policies. The owner has run an ad in every issue of the herald since 1953, which is quite a record.
